Ready, steady, cook!

Date: 30th Jan 2023 Author: Bosun

This week we challenged our Scouts to cook a meal in their patrols.

Each Scout had a budget of 23p, and some ingredients that they could purchase from our Shop.
The judgers were our Squirrel leaders Blossom and Hollie.

We were very impressed with what they dishes they served, and especially how the Scouts worked together within their patrols.

Well done Scouts!

One of our Scouts put their skills to use to make their parents a valentines day meal – see quote from Mum below.

I was surprised but intrigued to hear Francis suggesting to his dad that he make a Valentines meal for us this year. He said he knew the perfect receipe; a delicious meal he had made at Scouts. He wrote a list of all the ingredients, went to the supermarket to purchase it and prepared and served it with confidence and independence. He was very skilled and safe with the peeling, chopping and slicing. He even talked about cross-contamination and was a very clean and tidy chef! I was most impressed with the way he chose the way to cook and combine the elements of the dish and the way he paid attention to the taste, seasoning and spicing like an expert. The meal itself was presented beautifully and honestly was better than any restaurant meal we can remember! So tasty!!!! If only we had made more! Never mind, Francis says it might be a bit of a family tradition now so we look forward to next years dish!

Well done Francis.
